Grandparent’s Day at WMS
Today, we celebrated Grandparent’s Day with a beautiful and happy concert for our Grandparents. There were proud students in the choir and prouder Grandparents in the audience. Songs were sung in both Polish and English along with a poem or two. Our theme for the concert this year was to help our Grandparents relive their school days and their childhood friends and memories. The school was decorated with beautiful flowers and photos of grandparents as young students along with a few childhood stories. Following the concert, Grandparents shared a cup of tea and a slice of apple cake with their grandchildren in celebration of this time together.
In the Montessori tradition, school should represent the family and the home. It makes the students feel loved and supported. At Warsaw Montessori School, we pride our school on providing just the right environment to flourish emotionally, socially and academically. Inviting our Grandparents to share in this special day provided our students with exactly this connection.
For children, grandparents provide stability, safety, wisdom and fun. In return, caring for our grandparents boost social connections and important family relationships! Another purpose of this special day is to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children, and to help children become aware of the strength, information, and guidance older people can offer.
After all, we are Warsaw Montessori Family!
