Pumpkin Patch
This crisp October morning brings us back to our favorite excursion; the “Gospodarstwo Rolne” Majlert Farm. The freshness of the air coincides with the freshness of the farm grown crops. Our students relish the time and experience of choosing, harvesting and purchasing fresh fall produce.
The students prepare for going to the farm by discussing the harvest, life cycles of a plant, soil preparation, farm machinery and even cooking skills. Our students have also prepared by planting gardens that will bloom in the warm weather.
One of the tasks on the farm is to make pesto. The students pick the herbs, prepare them and use a pestle and mortar to grind the herbs into pesto. The final step with the pesto is to jar it up, take it home and use it on a dish for dinner.
Delicious!
Fun is also on the agenda. They play games, football and tuggle war. Finally, they light a fire and cook their lunch over an open flame.
Until next year….
