Warsaw Montessori School is launching the international project “Montessori Erdkinder”, developed in cooperation with its partner schools: Heřmánek Praha (Czech Republic), Montessori Zentrum Heidelberg (Germany), Norlights Montessoriskole Stavanger (Norway), Garozas pamatskola (Latvia), and Jolly Homeschool, Pezinok (Slovakia). The project, funded under Erasmus+ KA220, aims to design and implement innovative educational programmes based on the philosophy of Maria Montessori, and in particular on the Montessori Erdkinder model dedicated to adolescents aged 12–18.

In the coming months, the project partners will work on creating four original educational programmes in beekeeping, carpentry, gardening, and kitchen work. These programmes are designed to combine academic knowledge with practical skills and to be implemented in Montessori schools across Europe. Each programme is rooted in the principles of learning through meaningful work, shared responsibility, and close contact with nature.

A key component of the project will be student mobility. Over the two-year duration of the project, adolescents from six countries will take part in five-day stays at the Montessori Farm School in Białka, where they will work, study, and live according to the principles of the Montessori Erdkinder approach. Students will participate in thematic workshops, intercultural projects, and farm work, and each visit will conclude with a presentation summarising their experiences in English. Another highlight of the project will be the large international picnic in Białka, expected to gather more than five hundred participants and serve as a celebration of international cooperation.

The project also includes student visits to partner schools, allowing young people to see how the newly created programmes are implemented in different educational settings. Teachers will likewise be actively involved — a five-day training session in Białka will help them gain the competencies necessary to work with adolescents in the Montessori Erdkinder environment and to implement the new programmes effectively.

“Montessori Erdkinder” is a project that will connect school communities across Europe, strengthen international exchange, and create modern educational tools accessible to Montessori schools worldwide. Its implementation will support the development of key competencies in young people — independence, responsibility, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and ecological awareness.

In the coming months, the school’s website will feature updates, reports from activities, descriptions of the developing educational programmes, and summaries of international meetings. We invite you to follow the progress of a project that already promises to be a unique initiative combining education, nature, and international cooperation.
